#November 25th, 2009(Ottawa) –   The Institute of
Ismaili Studies in London, England will present the Carleton University
Library with a $3,000 book collection. This collection will enhance
Carleton’s existing minor in Muslim Studies in the religion program and
also help establish Carleton’s Centre for the Study of Islam.

The presentation will be part of the book launch of A Companion to the Muslim World, edited by Simon Fraser Professor Dr. Amyn Sajoo.

- Background:

The Institute of Ismaili Studies was established by His Highness the
Aga Khan in 1977 with the object of promoting scholarship and learning
of historical and contemporary Muslim societies and a better
understanding of their relationship with other societies and faiths.
Carleton Professor Karim Karim is on leave from Carleton, serving as
co-director of the Institute.
